RED EYES, NATURAL REMEDIES

The natural remedies for red eyes are different: from herbs to water, through feeding and attention to certain bad habits. Here’s how to keep healthy a part that speaks to the bottom of us.

When the eyes turn red

There are many reasons that can cause in adults, children or elderly red eyes . Red eyes may first be linked to an inflammation that may occur both in the conjunctiva of the eye , in the eyelids or in the attached glands. Also the lesion of the blood vessels, consequent to a physical trauma, can degenerate into redness, inflammation or haemorrhage.

Without considering others more serious , red eyes can often be connected more simply to climatic factors and pollution : too cold or too hot can in fact alter the state of the eye, going to affect the humidity of the same, as in case of polluted air and micro dust, cause unexpected discomfort.

Even the contact lenses, the chemicals found in the products of makeup, the hair of pets, smoking or pollen can cause strong reaction from the eyes, which release histamine to deal with certain allergens. The dry and tired eye, which often burns, can be a consequence of a too prolonged exposure to the computer ; Pool chlorine, insomnia and alcohol abuse can also lead to redness of the eye.

Here follow some simple advice that calls to the rescue a series of natural remedies for eye health  that do not replace the opinion of a doctor or specialist that is always good to consult beforehand.

Natural remedies for red eyes

> First of all, taking care of the diet : drinking lots of water and enriching the vitamin diet can generally be useful for good eye health. Green light and then raw fruits and vegetables (including blueberries, carrots, squash, tomatoes, peaches, melons, apricots, foods rich in vitamin A ), enriching with natural supplements such as pollen, royal jelly, wheat germ, seeds oily or dried fruit.

> Take breaks when you are in front of the computer, it would be good, at least every two hours, to take a break of a quarter of an hour. Also make sure that where you work the air is not excessively dry: recover trays to be placed on the radiators or diffusers that you can enrich with natural and beneficial essential oils.

> Try to rest and sleep well , helping yourself with natural herbal teas, eliminating sport late at night, especially if you suffer from insomnia, reading a few pages of a book to accommodate sleep, turning off the lights to allow the eye to regenerate. Do not forget that there are also useful yoga exercises for the eyes !

> Alleviate the inflammation of the eyes by making alternating compresses of cold and warm water to increase circulation, helping with a soft towel. Alternatively you can use chamomile, leaving it to cool well after the infusion and using sterile gauze or cotton pads that do not dispose of lint.


> Make natural compresses also with vegetables , cutting the classic cucumber washers to leave in the eye for about 10 minutes, or alternatively the carrot roncelle previously steamed and then let cool.

> Especially with the dry eye, keep soothing eye drops and “natural tears” on the base of mallow, chamomile, euphrasia, witch hazel, to compensate for poor tearing.
